Can You Take a Bali Rental Scooter to Nusa Penida, Lombok or the Gilis?

Short answer: usually not. Almost every Bali rental forbids its bikes leaving the island — because of damage risk during loading and salt water, the difficulty of helping you on another island, rough roads like Nusa Penida’s, and paperwork. Doing it anyway breaches your agreement: you can lose the deposit and pay all damage.
Rent on arrival instead
Nusa Penida rentals wait at Toyapakeh and Sampalan harbours; Lembongan has bikes at the harbour and guesthouses; Lombok has rentals in Senggigi, Kuta Lombok and Mataram. The Gilis have no motorbikes at all — bicycles, walking or horse carts.
Your own bike
Private motorbikes can travel on car ferries (e.g. from Padang Bai) with registration papers and licence. For fast-boat tickets and schedules, see SiapPergi.
Island-hopping tips
Return your Bali bike before you cross and rent again when you’re back, or ask to store a monthly rental at the shop. Don’t leave it for days at a harbour car park.
