Cheap Scooter Rental Bali 2026: From Rp 60k & How to Save

Updated

Finding a cheap scooter rental in Bali is easy. Finding one that is cheap and safe takes a little know-how. Bali has thousands of rentals, from family businesses down a lane to companies with hundreds of bikes, and the same Scoopy can cost twice as much at one shop as at the next. This guide shows how to get the lowest legitimate price in 2026: the cheapest areas, the cheapest models, the hidden costs and the warning signs of rentals that are too cheap to trust.

How cheap can a scooter rental in Bali be?

For a 110cc automatic like a Honda Scoopy or Beat, the market rate in 2026 is around Rp 60–100k per day. The lowest prices, about Rp 60k, are in Kuta and Denpasar. Canggu starts around Rp 70k, Seminyak and Uluwatu around Rp 75k and Nusa Dua and Nusa Penida around Rp 80k. Full model-by-model rates are in our Bali scooter rental prices guide.

AreaFrom (per day)Notes
Kuta & LegianRp 60–65kMost competition, close to the airport
DenpasarRp 60kLocal rentals, keen monthly rates
CangguRp 70kLots of weekly and monthly deals
SeminyakRp 75kUpmarket, villa delivery
UluwatuRp 75kSurf racks common
Nusa Dua & Nusa PenidaRp 80kHigher logistics costs

Ten legitimate ways to pay less

  1. Rent longer. Weekly deals are typically 15–25% cheaper per day, monthly deals 40–50% cheaper. See our monthly scooter rental guide.
  2. Choose a 110cc scooter. A Scoopy, Beat or Fazzio is the cheapest to rent and to fuel. You do not need an NMAX for flat South Bali roads. See Scoopy rental.
  3. Avoid peak season. July–August and December–January push prices up 10–30% and good bikes sell out.
  4. Book early for peak dates. Lock in a price two or three weeks ahead before stock runs low.
  5. Compare three quotes. Compare the full package, not just the daily number.
  6. Ask for the all-in price. A cheap rate without delivery, a second helmet or a raincoat can end up costing more.
  7. Collect the bike yourself if you are staying close by, which can save a delivery fee to far-off areas or the airport.
  8. Take a slightly older bike. A well-maintained two or three year old scooter is just as safe and often Rp 10–20k cheaper per day.
  9. Pay in cash or by local transfer. Some rentals add 3–5% for credit cards.
  10. Negotiate politely. Bargaining is normal, especially for rentals of three days or more, but do not push so hard that the rental has to cut corners.

Hidden costs to budget for

  • Fuel. Bikes usually come with a little fuel and should be returned the same way. Pertalite is Rp 10,000 per litre and Pertamax Rp 15,950 (October 2026). See our Bali fuel guide.
  • Parking. Rp 2,000–5,000 at beaches, malls and attractions. It adds up.
  • Delivery. Free within the same area, but airport or cross-island delivery may cost extra.
  • Deposit. Not a cost, but your money is tied up. Always get a receipt. Read our deposit guide.
  • Damage claims. Scratches you did not photograph at pick-up can turn into a bill of several hundred thousand rupiah.
  • Fines. Riding without a valid licence can cost up to Rp 1,000,000, no helmet up to Rp 250,000 and no STNK up to Rp 500,000 under Law No. 22/2009. One ticket wipes out a week of savings. See police checkpoints and fines.
  • Tourist levy. Not a rental cost, but foreign visitors pay a Rp 150,000 Bali levy (since 2024), so include it in your budget.

Red flags: when a rental is too cheap

  • A daily price far below market, such as Rp 35k a day for a single-day Scoopy in Seminyak.
  • No STNK, or an STNK that does not match the plate.
  • Expired road tax on the registration.
  • Thin, cracked helmets with no padding or broken straps.
  • Bald tyres and soft brakes, which are dangerous on steep roads down to the Bukit beaches.
  • A demand for your original passport as security.
  • No written record of the bike's condition or your deposit.
  • No address, clear contact number or online reviews.

Too-cheap rentals often make their money on inflated damage claims at return. Saving Rp 10k a day means nothing if you are charged Rp 500k for a scratch that was already there.

Cheapest models and when to upgrade

Start with a Scoopy or Beat: light, easy and frugal. The Yamaha Fazzio hybrid is also very economical for only slightly more. Upgrade to a Vario if you ride two-up often or head to hilly Ubud and Bedugul, and to an NMAX if you plan long trips to Amed or Lovina. A bike that is too small is not a bargain: a Scoopy carrying two adults up to Kintamani works hard, burns more fuel and feels less safe.

Could a car be cheaper?

For groups of four or more, one car can cost less than two scooters, especially with kids or luggage. A Honda Brio or Toyota Avanza split between friends is good value. See car rental in Bali and our self-drive car rental guide.

Example: a 10-day budget

Ten days on a Scoopy in Canggu at Rp 90k per day is Rp 900k. Ask for a weekly deal of around Rp 500k plus three extra days at Rp 75k and you pay Rp 725k, saving Rp 175k. Add roughly Rp 80–100k of fuel and Rp 30k of parking and your total transport for ten days is still under Rp 900k, far less than taxis for the same trips.

Cheap and safe

The biggest saving is avoiding accidents and fines. Wear a proper helmet, carry a valid licence and IDP, never ride after drinking and slow down on sandy beach roads. Read our Bali scooter safety tips and licence requirements. Note that in 2023 the governor announced an intention to stop foreign tourists renting motorbikes; there is no island-wide ban in force as of 2026, but rules can change, so rent from a registered business and check the latest news.
