Rental Scooter Warning Lights Explained: Check Engine, Oil, ABS & Idling Stop

Many lights flash for a few seconds at start-up — that is a normal self-check. Watch for lights that stay on or blink while riding.
- Check engine: the fuel-injection system found a fault. If it stays on or blinks while riding, pull over, photograph the dash and call the rental.
- Oil change: service is due; fine for short trips, but tell the rental.
- ABS: should go out once moving; if not, brake carefully and call the rental.
- Idling stop (“A”): the engine stops at red lights to save fuel — normal; twist the throttle to go.
- Fuel, smart key, temperature: refuel, bring the key fob close, or stop and let the engine cool.
Won’t start?
Raise the side stand, pull a brake lever while pressing start, check the smart key, fuel and the kill switch. Stop completely for a blinking check-engine light with power loss, overheating, smoke or brake problems, and don’t take the bike to a workshop without the rental’s approval (accidents & damage). Photograph the dashboard at handover.
