The descents to Melasti and Green Bowl are steep — use both brakes and avoid riding two-up on a weak 110cc.

Renting a scooter in Ungasan: what to know

Ungasan lies in the south of the Bukit Peninsula, in the South Kuta district. It's known for luxury clifftop villas, resorts with infinity pools over the Indian Ocean and white-sand beaches hidden under limestone cliffs. Distances are long and taxis rarely pass, so scooter rental in Ungasan is very practical for villa guests heading to beaches, cafés or supermarkets.

Melasti beach with its dramatic cliff road is the favourite, followed by quieter Green Bowl with its long staircase. Pandawa and Gunung Payung beaches in neighbouring Kutuh are good for swimming when the sea is calm. Uluwatu, Jimbaran and Nusa Dua are each only about 15–25 minutes away.

Ungasan's main roads are fairly wide but full of climbs and descents, especially down to the beaches. With a passenger, an NMAX or PCX is safer and more comfortable. Watch for sand on bends near beaches and strong winds on exposed clifftop roads.

From the airport, Ungasan is about 30–40 minutes via the Ngurah Rai Bypass and Jimbaran, or via the Bali Mandara toll road towards Nusa Dua if you're coming from Sanur — see the Bali toll road guide. Avoid the afternoon rush on the bypass.

Scooter rental in Ungasan starts at around IDR 75k per day, usually with villa delivery. Weekly or monthly rentals are much cheaper for long stays. See Uluwatu beaches by scooter for the beaches on the west side of the Bukit.

Carry your licence and IDP, the STNK and two helmets. Beach parking is usually IDR 2–5k per scooter, sometimes with an entry fee. Neighbouring areas: Uluwatu, Jimbaran and Nusa Dua.
