Renting a scooter in Bangli: what to know

Bangli is the only regency in Bali without a coastline. It stretches from rice fields in the south to the Batur caldera in the north, so the air is cooler than in South Bali. Sights are spread across villages and tour buses only stop at a few. With scooter rental in Bangli you can visit quieter places on your own schedule.

Penglipuran village is famous as one of the cleanest villages in the world, with identical traditional houses lining a stepped street and a bamboo forest behind. In Bangli town is Pura Kehen, a terraced temple with a giant banyan tree. Tukad Cepung waterfall is hidden in a rocky cave, while Tibumana waterfall has a calm pool in the jungle.

Bangli's main roads are generally smooth and not too busy, but they climb northwards. Solo, a Scoopy or Vario 125 is fine; two-up or continuing to Kintamani, choose a Vario 160 or NMAX. Waterfall lanes are narrow with steep descents — go slowly and use both brakes.

From Ubud, Bangli is only about 30–45 minutes via Gianyar; from the airport about 1.5 hours. It combines well with Mount Batur by scooter and Bali waterfalls by scooter.

Scooter rental in Bangli starts at around IDR 65k per day. There aren't many local rentals, so most visitors rent in Ubud or South Bali and ride over, or have a bike delivered through the SiapPergi catalogue.

Expect afternoon rain and mist, especially closer to Kintamani. Bring a jacket and raincoat. Neighbouring areas: Kintamani, Gianyar, Klungkung and Ubud.
